What you get, what it costs, and what we will not claim.

These terms govern use of the binding.law API, MCP server and website, operated by Jubal, Inc. Using the service means accepting them.

We serve the law. We do not give legal advice.

binding.law is a data service. It returns the text of statutes, regulations, court rules, agency guidance, pattern jury instructions and the Sentencing Guidelines, with the source, retrieval time, content hash and validity dates attached. It does not tell you what the law means, whether it applies to your facts, or what to do about it. No attorney-client relationship is created by using it.

The provenance on every record exists so that you, or the lawyer responsible, can verify the text against the official source. That is the intended use. Serving a citation is not a representation that it is the right citation for your matter.

What we do and do not promise about accuracy

What we do promise

Every record carries the URL it was read from, when it was read, a content hash and its validity dates, so you can check it.
Outside our coverage you get an explicit miss with a reason, never a nearest-neighbour guess.
Our own audit of the corpus is published, failures included, at /v1/law/quality — without a key.
What we carry is stated at /v1/law/coverage, and that endpoint is the authoritative account, not our marketing.

What we do not promise

That the corpus is complete. Coverage varies by jurisdiction and publisher, and the coverage endpoint says where it ends.
That a publisher's own text is correct. We reproduce what the source published; we do not correct the law.
That the service is uninterrupted. Paid tiers carry the availability commitments stated on the pricing page and no more.
That a record is suitable for filing, advising or deciding without a professional checking it against the source.

The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, Jubal, Inc. is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Your account and your key

Your API key is yours and it authenticates as you. Keep it secret; anything done with it is billed to you.
We store only a hash of it, so we cannot recover it. If it leaks, roll it from the dashboard — that invalidates the old one immediately.
One account, one key. Do not resell access or share a key across organisations; buy the tier that fits instead.
We may suspend an account for non-payment, or for use that threatens the service or another customer. We will tell you why.

Payment

Prices, allowances and what counts as a request are on the pricing page, and those figures govern. Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe, monthly or annually as you choose, and renew until cancelled. Cancel any time; access runs to the end of the period you have paid for and we do not pro-rate a partial month.

Attorneys and firms never pay.

Reviewing, correcting and verifying your own professional record is free, permanently, and is not a tier. It is a principle rather than a promotion: we will not put a lawyer's own record behind a payment, and we will not sell one back to them.

What you may do with the data

The law itself is not ours and we claim no copyright in it. Use the text you retrieve in your product, your brief or your research. Our work is the sourcing, the versioning and the provenance, and the terms below are about the service rather than the statutes.

Do not present our corpus as a bulk dataset of your own, or re-sell access under another name. Bulk export is an Enterprise arrangement — ask.
Training a model on the corpus requires a separate licence. API access alone does not include it.
Do not attempt to circumvent the metering, and do not use the service to attack it.
Attribution is welcome and not required.

The rest

These terms are governed by the law of the State of Delaware. If we change them materially we will say so on this page and tell account holders by email rather than changing the date quietly. If any part is unenforceable the rest stands.
