Wyo. Medicaid Institutional Provider Manual § 16.1
Hospice
Appropriate Bill Type(s): 81X-82X
Pay-to Provider’s Taxonomy: 251G00000X
A Member eligible for hospice is someone who has a terminal illness with a life expectancy of 6 months
or less. Hospice care is provided by a public agency or a private organization, or a subdivision of either
that is primarily engaged in providing care to terminally ill individuals. A participating hospice Provider
must meet the Medicare conditions of participation for the hospices to be enrolled. Hospice care is an
interdisciplinary approach to caring for the psychological, social, spiritual, and physical needs of dying
Members. This service is a special way of caring for a Member whose disease cannot be cured. It is
primarily a program of care delivered in a person’s home that provides reasonable and necessary
medical and support services for the management of a terminal illness.
