Continuous Care Services

activein force · 2026-10-01 – presentcompiled-edition

Wisconsin Medicaid will reimburse a hospice for continuous care if a minimum of eight hours of care is provided on a DOS (date

of service). A DOS begins and ends at midnight. The member may be at home or permanently residing in a nursing facility.

Continuous care is nursing care provided by either an RN (registered nurse) or LPN (licensed practical nurse). An RN or LPN is

required to provide care for more than half of the minimum eight-hour period within a 24-hour period. The time billed does not

need to be continuous (for example, four hours in the morning and four hours in the afternoon). Homemaker and aide services

may be provided to supplement the nursing care.
