Va. Sup. Ct. R. 3A:1
Scope
These Rules govern criminal proceedings in circuit courts and juvenile and
domestic relations district courts (except proceedings concerning a child in a juvenile and
domestic relations district court) and before the magistrates defined in Rule 3A:2 except
for cases which have been returned to the general district court. Special statutes
applicable to practices and procedures in juvenile and domestic relations district courts
are incorporated herein by this reference and in such cases prevail over the general rule
set forth in Part 3A.
