Dispositive Motions

(a) Motions that dispose of any claim or defense shall usually be heard and

determined by the District Judge assigned to the case. When such Judge concludes that

final adjudication of such motion will be expedited if it is referred to a Magistrate Judge

for report and recommendation, such motion may be referred to the Magistrate Judge,

whose report and recommendation shall be filed consistent with the provisions of Local

Rule 7.3(b).

(b) In those cases in which a summary judgment motion is pending, the Judicial

Officer may consider scheduling the case for oral argument.
