E.D.N.C. Local Criminal Rule 50.1
Definition of Related Criminal Cases
“Related cases” are matters which, by sharing common events or defendants, would
entail substantial duplication of labor in pretrial, trial, or sentencing proceedings if
heard by different judges, including prior cases that have been closed or dismissed.
Examples of related cases may include but are not limited to:
(a) matters arising out of the same conspiracy, common scheme, transaction,
series of transactions or events; or
(b) matters involving one or more defendants in common.
