D. Mont. L.R. CR 46.2
Persons Not to Act as Sureties
(a) No officer of the court, nor any member of the Bar, nor his/her office
associates or employees may act as surety.
(b) In lieu of surety in any criminal case there may be deposited with the
clerk of court lawful money or negotiable bonds or notes of the United States.
