Rand Notice

Pursuant to Rand v. Rowland, 154 F.3d 952 (9th Cir. 1998), a party moving for summary

judgment shall file and serve with its motion a notice to a pro se prisoner litigant

summarizing the import of Fed. R. Civ. P. 56, including the possibility of dismissal of the

case. The notice must conform to the model notice set forth in Appendix A of the Rand

decision. The notice shall clearly indicate: “This Notice is Required to be Given to You by

the Court.”
