§482.94(d) Standard: Social Services
The transplant program must make social services available, furnished by qualified social
workers, to transplant patients, living donors, and their families….
Guideline §482.94(d)
Making social services available means that if a social service need for a recipient/donor/family
is identified at any point from evaluation through discharge, the program must provide a
qualified social worker to address the need/issue, and documentation in the medical record
should confirm the social worker intervention.
A request for social services can be made by the patient, family member(s)/caretakers, and/or the
patient’s multidisciplinary team.
