(2) The RNHCI must furnish each patient with the following:
(i) A separate bed of proper size and height for the convenience of the patient.
Interpretive Guidelines: §403.742(b)(2)(i)
The RNHCI must provide functional furniture appropriate to the patient’s needs. This
means that the furniture in each patient’s room should contribute to the patient attaining
or maintaining his or her highest practicable level of independence and well-being. Part
of the furnishings include bed of proper size and height for the patient.
Survey Procedures:
• Verify the beds in the patient rooms are an appropriate size.
