(3) Ensure timely access by patients to the records and other information that

Interpretive Guidelines: §403.730(d)(3)

Patients and patient representatives must have access to their respective records in a

timely manner. It is the responsibility of the RNHCI to ensure when patients request

records that the information is provided within a reasonable time.

Survey Procedures:

• Ask staff to describe the process used to provide patient records to the patient or

patient representative once requested.
