§483.356(c )(2) Communicate its restraint and seclusion policy in a language that the
resident, or his or her parent(s) or legal guardian(s) understands (including American
Sign Language, if appropriate) and when necessary, the facility must provide
interpreters or translators;

During the process of resident record reviews note any instances where a communication
barrier was identified for either the resident or the legal guardian. Review the
corresponding documentation of the information provided at the time of admission
concerning the facility policies on restraint and seclusion. Ensure that any
communication barriers were addressed.
