§483.460(c)(3)(ii) Be by a licensed nurse;
Guidance §483.460(c)(3)(ii)
The term "licensed nurse", for purposes of these guidelines, means a registered nurse, a
licensed practical nurse or a licensed vocational nurse currently licensed by the State in which
the facility is located. The nurse must operate consistent with the requirements of the
applicable Nurse Practice Act. If this direct physical examination is done by a physician, it is not
necessary for the nurse to repeat the exam.
