The facility must—

(1) Monitor and implement biohazard and infection control policies and activities within

the dialysis unit;

Interpretive Guidance § 494.30(b)(1)

The facility should have written policies and procedures covering the infection control program

and practices, including, but not limited to, emerging infectious diseases, isolation, and any

additional precautions for patients with communicable diseases with different modes of

transmission, such as tuberculosis (TB), influenza, and multidrug-resistant organisms. The

facility must review practices and update policies and procedures as needed to ensure infection

control practices are rigorously followed.
