§485.918(b)(1)(i) Provides outpatient services, including specialized outpatient services
for children, elderly individuals, individuals with serious mental illness, and residents of
its mental health service area who have been discharged from inpatient mental health
facilities.
Interpretive Guidelines §485.918(b)(1)(i)
If the facility currently serves a client in one or more of these groups, determine through
observations and interviews whether the services are meeting the client’s specialized
needs through treatment programming. If the facility is not currently serving one or more
of these groups, evaluate whether the facility would have the capability to do so through
a review of treatment materials, policies and procedures, staffing and treatment space.
Closed medical records may also substantiate that such services are provided by the
facility.
