Interpretive Guidelines §484.105(f)(2)

Accepted standards of practice include guidelines or recommendations issued by

nationally recognized organizations with expertise in the field. Clinical practice

guidelines and accepted professional standards of practice may be found in, but are not

limited to:

− State practice acts;

− Standards established by national organizations, boards, and councils (e.g., the

American Nurses’ Association standards); and

− The HHA’s own policies and procedures.

HHAs should consider identifying the clinical practice guideline or standard of practice

used when developing and updating care policies and procedures.
