§484.50(d) Standard: Transfer and discharge
[…The HHA may only transfer or discharge the patient from the HHA if:]
(7) The HHA ceases to operate.
Interpretive Guidelines §484.50(d)(7)
The agency must provide sufficient notice of its planned cessation of business to enable
patients to select an alternative service provider and to enable the HHA to facilitate the
safe transfer of its patients to other agencies.
