Effective date of Medicare hospice termination
Beginning with the date of termination of the Medicare hospice benefit, whether due to
revocation, or discharge, coverage of all Part D drugs including those related to the terminal
illness and related conditions resumes under the member’s Part D benefit. This is different from
the effective date of the resumption of benefits under Part C. For beneficiaries in a Medicare
Advantage (MA) plan, all services continue to process through fee-for-service Medicare through
the end of the month in which the Medicare hospice benefit terminated and MA coverage
resumes at the beginning of the following month.
