TEST MENUS AND LABORATORY ORDERS
All test menus for non-waived and waived testing facilities will be reviewed and approved
annually by the NLA. There will be a standardized test menu for all laboratory testing facilities.

Testing facilities are required to adhere to those approved menus to ensure testing is offered in
the safest and most cost-efficient manner.
Any authorized Bureau prescriber (physician, dentist, advanced practice provider (APP), or
pharmacist with prescribing authority) may order laboratory tests via the EHR. Electronic orders
are required prior to patient testing in a Bureau or commercial laboratory. In the event of EHR
downtime, facilities will utilize their local reference laboratory for all laboratory testing. Once
the existing EHR comes back on-line, the requested facility will be responsible for placing the
order electronically.
