Physician Quality Reporting System Measures
To qualify to earn the Physician Quality Reporting System incentive payment, an eligible
professional must report data on quality measures. Beginning with the 2008 Physician Quality
Reporting System, eligible professionals have the option of reporting data on individual quality
measures or on measures groups. Physician Quality Reporting System measures groups are
created by CMS by grouping 4 or more Physician Quality Reporting System measures that have
a clinical condition or focus in common. The Physician Quality Reporting System measures that
comprise a measures group share a common denominator specification and therefore differ in
their specifications from that of individual measures.
