Interest Charges for Medicare Overpayments/Underpayments
Section 117 of the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 1982 (P.L. 97-248)
requires interest payments for Medicare overpayments and underpayments. The 42 CFR
405.378 sets forth the rules for charging and payment of interest. The following
subsections set forth the rules governing interest on overpayments/underpayments for
HCPP.
