Potential Fraud Investigations
A MAC shall contact the CERT review contractor to request that they cease contact with
a provider or supplier when the provider or supplier is involved in an active investigation.
In such cases, the MAC is responsible for providing written confirmation from the UPIC
or law enforcement of an active investigation regarding the provider or supplier. The
confirmation is then sent to CMS by the CERT review contractor for approval to cease
contact.
