Pre-Exit Conference
Conduct a pre-exit conference on the last day that the audit team is conducting the
fieldwork or the date established at the entrance conference. Give the provider a copy of
all the tentative audit adjustments and working papers (where requested by the provider)
including those being proposed due to lack of documentation and discuss all the tentative
adjustments that the provider wishes to go over. Also, give the provider a written list of
any outstanding documentation that you requested but have not received to date. Inform
the provider to furnish your audit staff with the additional documentation within 4 weeks.
Establish an exit conference date that will allow up to 8 weeks (or longer if you can
document extenuating circumstances) from the end of the 4 week period given to the
provider to provide additional documentation.
