Eligibility Connectivity Workflow
In 2005, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) implemented the HIPAA
Eligibility Transaction System (HETS 270/271) to address the standards for the Medicare
beneficiary eligibility inquiries, creating a centralized ASC X12 270/271 health care
eligibility inquiry application that can process eligibility transactions in real-time.
