Transverse (Catheter) Pulmonary Embolectomy (RETIRED)
Effective October 28, 2021, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services removed the national
coverage determination (NCD) for Transvenous (Catheter) Pulmonary Embolectomy (TPE). In the
absence of an NCD, coverage determinations will be made by the Medicare Administrative
Contractors under section 1862(a)(1)(A) of the Social Security Act.
