Fees in Civil Cases

activein force · 2026-02-06 – presentact-effective-date

A party who is not excused by statute or these

rules from paying costs must pay — at the time an item

is presented for filing — whatever fees are required by

statute or Supreme Court order. The appellate court

may enforce this rule by any order that is just.

History

Notes and Comments Comment to 1997 change: This is former Rule 13. The rule is simplified. The fees an appellate court may charge in a civil case are now specified by Supreme Court order.

Unofficial copy of government-published law, reproduced from official sources with full provenance. Not an official publication; verify against official sources before relying on it in a filing. Records in the 'guidance' corpus, and only that corpus, are sub-regulatory (interpretive guidelines, survey procedures) and are not binding law. Validity bounds follow each jurisdiction's declared temporalBasis.
