Pre-adjudicatory Detention

Upon a finding by the judge that detention is necessary for protection of the community or to serve

the best interest of a child, and that such detention is likely to be for a period in excess of 48 hours, the

judge upon adequate evidence and testimony may by appropriate order, extend such detention for a

period not to exceed 7 days. Additional extensions not to exceed 7 days each may be made by

subsequent orders of the court. Such order shall be in writing or reduced to writing and shall recite

appropriate findings of fact.
