S.C. Const. art. V, § 2
Supreme Court
The Supreme Court shall consist of a Chief Justice and four Associate Justices, any three of whom shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business. The Chief Justice shall preside, and in his absence the senior Associate Justice. In all cases decided by the Supreme Court, the concurrence of three of the Justices shall be necessary for a reversal of the judgment below.
History

The present provisions of the first two sentences of this section are identical to the first two sentences of former Section 2 of Article V as it existed prior to the 1973 revision. The present provisions of the third sentence of this section are similar to the first sentence of Section 12 of Article V as it existed prior to the 1973 revision.
