Ohio Sup.R. 9.08
Roster of Interpreters
The Supreme Court Language Services Section shall maintain a roster of each Supreme Court
certified foreign language interpreter, Supreme Court certified sign language interpreter,
provisionally qualified foreign language interpreter, registered foreign la nguage interpreter, and
registered sign language interpreter who is in compliance with the applicable continuing education
requirements of Sup.R. 9.07. The Section shall post the roster on the website of the Supreme
Court. The Section may also include a list of assessed interpreters who have scored no less than
70 percent on the written exam, have attended twenty- four hours of court-related training, a nd
have demonstrated proficiency in the foreign language through an oral proficiency interview.
Assessed interpreters must also pass a background check showing no conviction of a crime
involving moral turpitude and have the legal right to work in the United States.

Effective Date: January 1, 2010 Amended: July 1, 2014; January 1, 2021; November 13, 2025 Commentary (July 1, 2026) Rule 86 was renumbered to Rule 9.08 as part of the 2026 restructuring of the Rules of Superintendence.
