ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS
A. CHIEF JUDGE
The chief judge shall be selected in accordance with law. NMSA 1978,
§ 34-5-2 (1966). The Court shall attempt to assure continuity in the
office of the chief judge. The chief judge shall take an oath of office
and the oath will be filed with the Secretary of State’s Office.
The chief judge shall be the administrative authority of the Court and
generally supervise the business of the Court in consultation with the
other judges.
B. COLLECTIVE DECISIONS
1. Subject to the provisions of the New Mexico Judicial Branch
Personnel Rules and Policies (Personnel Rules), the hiring,
acceptance of resignation, or termination of the chief clerk, the
chief appellate attorney, and the reporter of decisions shall be
made by a majority vote of the judges.
2. These Policies and Procedures shall be amended by a majority
vote of the judges and will be made available to the public on the
Court website. Any other Court-wide policies or procedures shall
also be determined by a majority vote of the judges and will be
made available for Court personnel, as appropriate.
3. Substantive changes to the Court budget shall be determined by
a majority vote of the judges.
