Senate, How Constituted
The senate shall consist of twenty four members.
History
June 2, 1784. Provided for 12 senators. Amended 1792. Generally rephrased specifying term as one year from the first Wednesday in June. Amended 1877 increasing senators to 24 and providing for 2 year term. Amended 1889 so that term started in January instead of June. Amended 1974 deleting reference to term.
