CONFLICT OF INTEREST
• Consistent with and subject to the SBM Board Policy 15, Conflict of Interest, a Board member who has any known existing or potential conflict of interest must report the conflict to the President of the Bar. A Board member shall abstain from investigating, recommending, or voting on any matter on which the member has any known or existing or potential conflicts of interests. Conflicts may include, but are not limited to, situations where a Board member has a lawyer-client, financial, or close familial relationship with a claimant or a lawyer who is the subject of a claim.
• A Committee member who has any known existing or potential conflict of interest must report the conflict to the Committee Chair. The Committee member shall abstain from investigating, recommending, or voting on any matter on which the member has any known or existing or potential conflicts of interests. Conflicts may include, but are not limited to, situations where a Committee member has a lawyer-client, financial, or close familial relationship with a claimant or a lawyer who is the subject of a claim.
