Physician or NPP Services

Reimbursement for administrative duties performed by the Medical Director is included in

normal hospice rates. Direct patient care provided by the Medical Director, hospice-employed physician, NPP, or consulting physician may be billed by the hospice and is

separately reimbursable based on the lesser of Medicaid’s maximum allowable amount

for the service or the charge. Claims must reflect the Healthcare Common Procedure

Coding System (HCPCS) procedure codes for the physician’s direct patient care.
