Hospital Inpatient Care

Medicaid hospice reimbursement includes payment for any hospitalizations related to the

terminal illness. The hospice must contract with, and reimburse, a hospital for medically

necessary inpatient services related to the beneficiary’s terminal illness. Medicaid does

not reimburse the hospital separately unless the hospitalization is not related to the

terminal illness.
