Definition of “Claim.” In connection with District Court actions referred to in this section,

“claim” means the amount originally claimed by the plaintiff and does not include (i) the amount

of any judgment which may have been rendered in the District Court or (ii) interest, costs or

attorney’s fees. If a counterclaim was filed in the District Court, “claim” means the higher of the

amounts claimed in the complaint or counterclaim. In landlord and tenant actions, “claim” refers

to the amount of rent claimed (Courts and Judicial Proceedings Section 4-405).
