IN THE SUPREME COURT OF MARYLAND

ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER CONCERNING FONTS APPROVED FOR PAPERS FILED IN THE

SUPREME COURT OF MARYLAND AND THE APPELLATE COURT OF MARYLAND

Whereas, Maryland Rule 8-112(c)(1) requires the Supreme Court of Maryland to

“approve, from time to time, a list of fonts that comply with the requirements” of Rule

8-112; and

Whereas, the previously approved list of fonts has been in place since July 1, 1997

and required updating;

Now therefore, pursuant to Rule 8-112(c)(1), it is this 27th day of September 2023,

ordered that:

1. The list of approved fonts in place since July 1, 1997 is rescinded. Fonts

identified in that list and not included in paragraph 3 below may still be used through

December 31, 2023;

2. Effective January 1, 2024, fonts not identified in paragraph 3 below may not be

used in printed and computer-generated filings in either of Maryland’s appellate courts;

and

3. The following fonts are approved for use in printed and computer-generated

filings before the Supreme Court of Maryland and the Appellate Court of Maryland:

Arial Nova Georgia Pro

Bookman Old Style Helvetica

Century Schoolbook Lexend

Georgia Times New Roman
