Md. Standards of Conduct for Court-Designated ADR Practitioners 6
“Mediation” means a collaborative process in which one or more mediators
support communication and voluntary decision making by people or entities with a
current or potential conflict.4 The fundamental principles of mediation are party
self-determination, mediator impartiality, and confidentiality.
