Hospice Coverage in Swing Bed Facilities
• When a member has elected hospice and the member is in a swing bed, the hospice is to bill
procedure code T2046 and the payment will be reimbursed at 95% of the hospital’s swing
bed rate.
• To further define the service, providers can indicate “Member in swing bed facility” in
Field 19 for paper claims or in the narrative box for electronic claims.
