Amended Order on Payment Schedule for

Hearing Officers and Masters

Hearing officers appointed by this Court to preside in attorney disciplinary proceedings, see

generally Ind. Admission and Discipline Rule 23, and masters appointed by this Court to preside in

judicial disciplinary proceedings, see generally Admis. Disc. R. 25, shall be compensated for services

rendered on or after the date of this order in accordance with the following schedule of payments:

• Preparation of entries, study, research, and all necessary non-hearing services: $150 per hour

• Pretrial or trial hearings: $525 per day

• Hearing of a half day or less: $300 per day

• Reviewing evidence and preparing any findings, recommendations, or reports required by

order of this Court or the Admission and Discipline Rules: $150 per hour

• Necessary out-of-pocket expenses (telephone, postage, etc.): Actual expenses

All travel necessary to the conduct of such case shall be reimbursed at the per mileage rate

designated in the Indiana Department of Administration Travel Policy effective when the travel occurs.

Judicial officers who are currently serving in a salaried judicial position are not eligible to receive

hearing officer compensation but may be reimbursed for necessary out-of-pocket expenses and travel.

Individuals who are not currently serving as judicial officers are eligible to receive hearing officer

compensation, as well as reimbursement for necessary out-of-pocket expenses and travel.

At the conclusion of their services in a particular case, hearing officers and masters shall

submit statements of services, pursuant to the above schedule, to Supreme Court Services, State

House Room 316, 200 West Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46204. Before submitting a

statement of services, the hearing officer or master should visit the Indiana Department of

Administration’s website at https://www.in.gov/idoa/procurement/travel-services/travel-

reimbursement-rates to determine the applicable travel reimbursement rate.

This amended order is effective on the date it is signed. Compensation for services rendered by

hearing officers or masters before that date is governed by the order issued in case number 94S00-

1607-MS-384 on July 19, 2016.
