Location of Routine or Continuous Home Hospice Care
Routine and continuous home hospice care may be provided in a member’s place of residence, which can
be any residential setting other than an inpatient hospital setting.
The following sections address case-specific reminders regarding the provision of routine or continuous
hospice care in hospice residences, assisted living facilities, residential care facilities and intermediate care
facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities (ICFs/IID). For patients receiving routine or continuous
home hospice services while residing in a nursing facility, see Section 6: Billing and Reimbursement for
special requirements regarding reimbursement and coordination of care.
