Definition Of Attempt—Other Than Attempt First Degree Murder
A person commits the offense of attempt when he, [without lawful justification and] with
the intent to commit the offense of ____, does any act which constitutes a substantial step toward
the commission of the offense of ____.
The offense attempted need not have been committed.
