Ill. Pattern Jury Instr. (Criminal) 18.24
Issues In Defacing The Identification Marks Of Firearms
To sustain the charge of defacing the identification marks of firearms, the State must
prove the following proposition:
That the defendant [(intentionally) (knowingly)] changed, altered, removed, or
obliterated [(the name of the maker) (the name of the model) (the manufacturer's number) (any
identification mark)] of a firearm.
If you find from your consideration of all the evidence that this proposition has been
proved beyond a reasonable doubt, you should find the defendant guilty.
If you find from your consideration of all the evidence that this proposition has not been
proved beyond a reasonable doubt, you should find the defendant not guilty.
