Definition Of Permitting The Sexual Abuse Of A Child
A person commits the offense of permitting the sexual abuse of a child when he is a [
(parent) (step-parent) (legal guardian) (person having custody)] of a child and he knowingly
[1] allows or permits an act of [(criminal sexual abuse) (aggravated criminal sexual
abuse) (criminal sexual assault) (aggravated criminal sexual assault)] upon the child and fails to
take reasonable steps to prevent the commission of the act [or future occurrences of such acts].
[or]
[2] [(permits) (induces) (promotes) (arranges for)] the child to engage in prostitution and
fails to take reasonable steps to prevent the commission of the act [or future occurrences of such
acts].
The word “child” means a person under 17 years of age.
