Dram Shop Act--Injury to Person or Property by an Intoxicated Person
There was in force in the State of I llinois at the time of the occurren ce in question a
statute called the Dram Shop Act providing that every person who shall be injured in person or
property by any intox icated person as a result of his intoxication shall have a right of action [in
his own name] against any person who shall, by selling or giving alcoholic liquor, have caused
the intoxication of such intoxicated person.
