General Inpatient Care – Revenue Code 0656

General inpatient care is applicable for each day the patient receives inpatient care

for a condition related to the patient’s terminal illness. See Topic K-234.1 for the

facilities where these services may be provided.

On the day of discharge from an inpatient unit, the appropriate home care rate is to

be billed unless the patient dies as an inpatient. When the patient is discharged

deceased, the general inpatient rate is to be billed for the discharge date.
