The Medical Care Unit is Idaho Medicaid’s team that reviews prior authorization (PA) requests
for home health and hospice services.

The Medical Care Unit does not accept authorization requests via e-mail. The status of a PA
request submitted to the Medical Care Unit may be checked online at the Gainwell
Technologies portal under “Authorization Status”, using your National Provider Identifier
(NPI). If you have questions on a Denial, click on the Notes, which will explain the reason for
