ORDER STAYING THE ENFORCEMENT OF RULE 6.2(b)(1) OF THE HAWAI#I
ELECTRONIC FILING AND SERVICE RULES IN CIVIL LITIGATION IN
DISTRICT AND CIRCUIT COURTS OF ALL CIRCUITS

Having reviewed the request from the Honorable R. Mark
Browning, Chief Judge of the First Circuit, the Honorable
Jeannette H. Castagnetti, Civil Administrative Judge for the
Circuit Court of the First Circuit, and the Honorable Hilary B.
Gangnes, Lead Civil Judge for the District Court of the First
Circuit, to amend Rule 6.2 of the Hawai#i Electronic Filing and
Service Rules to address conventional service of electronic
documents upon parties not required to register with the
Judiciary Electronic Filing and Service System (JEFS) and who
have not consented to electronic service,
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that the provisions of Rule
6.2(b)(1) of the Hawai#i Electronic Filing and Service Rules are
suspended for cases in the civil calendar of the Circuit and
District Courts of all Circuits, until further order of this
court, pending consideration of amendments to this Rule. The
administrative judges overseeing these calendars may direct
service be accomplished in the manner in place prior to the
introduction of electronic filing in these calendars, or
otherwise as deemed appropriate, in their discretion.
