Eligibleprovidersmaybeindividualpractitionersormaybeemployedbyhomecareagencies,children'sdevelopmentalserviceagencies,healthdepartments,FederallyQualifiedHealthCenters(FQHC),clinics,orhospitaloutpatientfacilities.Theprovideragencyortheindividualprovidermustverifythatrenderingprovidersmeetthefollowingqualifications:
Speech-languagePathologists(SLPs,speechtherapists)musthaveacurrentlicensepursuanttotheSpeech-languagePathologyPracticeAct.
Speech-languagePathologyAssistantsaresupportpersonnelwho,followingacademicand/oron-the-jobtraining,performtasksprescribed,directed,andsupervisedbylicensedspeech-languagepathologists.Speech-languagepathologistsmustfollowtheASHAguidelinesonthetraining,use,andsupervisionofassistants.Speech-languagepathologyassistantsmustpracticeunderthedirectsupervisionofaColoradolicensedspeech-languagepathologist(10CCR2505-108.200.2.D.1.d.,effectiveDecember30,2020).
Speech-languagepathologyassistantscannotenrollwithHealthFirstColoradoandthereforecannotplaceanyidentifyingnumberonaclaimform.Therefore,thesupervisingtherapist'sNPImustbeusedastherenderingproviderontheclaimformforservicesrenderedbytheassistant.
ClinicalFellows,practicingunderthegeneralsupervisionofalicensedspeech-languagepathologistmayprovidespeechtherapyservices.
ClinicalFellowscannotenrollwithHealthFirstColoradoandthereforecannotplaceanyidentifyingnumberonaclaimform.Therefore,thesupervisingtherapist'sNPImustbeusedastherenderingproviderontheclaimformforservicesrenderedbytheClinicalFellow.
Therapymayalsoberenderedbylicensedandenrolledphysicians,physicianassistantsandadvancedpracticenursesasallowedbytheirrespectivescopesofpractice.
AllprovidersmustsubmitacompletedproviderenrollmenttobecomeaHealthFirstColoradoprovider.VisittheProviderEnrollmentwebpageforenrollmentinformation.Pursuantto10CCR2505-108.200.3.D.2.b,providersofin-homehealthwhoemploytherapistsoraudiologistsshallapplyforlicensingthroughtheColoradoDepartmentofPublicHealthandEnvironment(CDPHE).(§25-27.5-103(1),C.R.S.and6CCR1011-1,ChapterXXVI,Section5.1)asahomecareagency.ThisruledoesnotapplytoprovidersdeliveringEarlyInterventionServicesunderanIndividualFamilyServicePlan(IFSP)andbillingthroughcontractswiththeCommunityCenteredBoards.
