Alaska Criminal Pattern Jury Instruction 11.61.140(c)(1)
Cruelty to Animals – Defense of Scientific Research
It is a defense to a prosecution under this statute that the conduct of the defendant was part of scientific research governed by accepted standards. Therefore, if the state has not proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the conduct of the defendant was not part of scientific research governed by accepted standards, then you must find the defendant not guilty.
