Aggravating Factors - Pretrial Notice
The last stage of a trial usually is the jury’s deliberations. In some trials, however, the jury’s service may be needed after the return of the verdict(s). Therefore, you should not assume that your duties on this case will end with the return of your verdict(s).
[If such a situation does arise, you may expect that your further services will be needed for approximately ______days/hours. Those day(s)/hours may immediately follow the return of your verdict(s) or could be scheduled later.]
[You must not speculate why the court is providing this information to you, and you must not let the possibility of additional service affect your duties as a juror. Also, you must not harbor any resentment against either the state or the defendant because of this possibility. The court and the parties expect that you will conscientiously follow this instruction.]
